The
following activities are part of the programme:
Further development of the Learning About Forests network
The
network will facilitate the exchange of experiences and ideas across
country borders, thereby allowing participating countries to
co-operate closely in the field of forest education. The network is
based on meetings for national operators, newsletters and an active
homepage.
Development
of the Internet facility for the programme
The
homepage forms a meeting place for the programme. Here you will find
news, links, forest activities and information on forest themes and
participating countries.
Teacher
training courses and exchange trips for teachers
It
is important to equip teachers with the tools for outdoor education,
so the programme aims to hold regular international teacher training
seminars. We also hope to be able to arrange exchange trips for
teachers, so that they can meet with colleagues from other
countries.
Exchange
trips for students
Exchange trips are an attractive incentive for engaging the pupils
in the programme, and can lead to a deeper understanding of the
forests and their role in a sustainable society. Exchange trips can
create insight into how forests functions in different climates and
cultures, and will give an understanding of the cross-cutting nature
of environmental subjects.
Teaching
materials
Materials will be assembled around forest themes which will
change several times each year (see Themes).
See also the E-library for
descriptions of various materials on forest education that are
available. For
ideas on forest activities see Activities
section.
