The Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe (MCPFE) is the pan-European policy process for the sustainable management of the continent's forests. The MCPFE develops common strategies for its 46 member countries and the European Union on how to protect and sustainably manage forests. Several non-European countries and international organisations participate as observers. Founded in 1990, the work of the MCPFE has been of great economic, environmental and social importance at the national and international level
European Forest Institute
A non-governmental organisation, the EFI conducts forest research, compiles forest information and organises meetings on a European scale. Research papers and publications can be downloaded.

Everything you might want to know about paper can be found on this site! It includes a comprhensive history of paper, information on the 'paper cycle' and activities for schools such as paper making.
Alliance for beverage Cartons and the Environment
ACE is an international coalition of paperboard and beverage carton manufacturers, working together to raise the awareness of the consumer on the environmental benefits of utilising carton for packaging purposes.
Finnish Forest Association
In Finland the Finnish Forest Association is largely responsible for forest education in schools. Forest Facts gathers together the pertinent data on forests and forest sector. Finnish Forest Industries Federation
The Finnish Forest Industries Federation represents about 120 Finnish enterprises. Its members comprise 95 per cent of the nation's wood-processing sector, which produces pulp, paper, paperboard, sawn timber and wood-based panels. A key task for the Federation is to promote the sector's joint interests and operating conditions in Finland and abroad as well as to improve the public image and awareness of the characteristics of the Finnish forest industries. In Finland forest education in schools is carried out by the Finnish Forest Association with whom the Finnish Forest Industries Federation cooperates.
Food and Agriculture Organisation
This United Nations organisation operates at a global level and has a whole section on forestry. The website contains useful reports such as recent State of the World's Forests reports.
Forest Sweden
(available in English and Swedish). This site contains information on pulp and paper making as well as forest certification. It also has a useful OH picture archive with pictures and graphs that can be downloaded and used in your own documents

Swedish Forest Industries Association
(available in Swedish, German, English and French). Although this site has a Swedish focus it also contains useful general information on the forest cycle, forests and climate and the forest industry.
ENO Environment Online
ENO-Environment Online is a global virtual school and network for sustainable development and environmental awareness. Environmental themes are studied within a school year on a weekly basis. Thousands of schools from 124 countries have taken part. ENO organize tree planting days with a goal to plant 1 million trees by 2017.
